Looking for a blue jay tail feather for my son for Christmas. Can anyone help me out?
My 8 year old son has asked for a special Christmas gift this year while sitting on Santa’s lap. I heard him whisper in his ear he would like a blue jay tail feather. Wow, I said. Where would I find one of those, as we do not live in an area where blue jays frequent. I would be grateful for any information I could get. Thank you
It is illegal to possess any wild bird, or even PART of bird without the proper permits. Even song birds, sadly. (This really applies to any wild animal.)
Now, if you do happen to come across one somehow and give it to your son anyway, I suggest you tell him he will have to be VERY careful, and secretive about his special blue jay feather. This is mostly for your sake, since you can be fined, occasionally imprisoned (although with song birds that is usually a bit drastic.)
